I watched the first five seasons of Criminal Minds, but gave up midway through season six, because... serial killers. Serial killers do nothing for me. Hotch was a pretty awesome character, though.Morgan Richterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14479288651753689466noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-75557205567764834.post-48585246232925969192016-05-03T02:39:05.120-07:002016-05-03T02:39:05.120-07:00LOL- Interesting post and I found it by accident. ...LOL- Interesting post and I found it by accident. I laughed so hard when I read the part about the bizarro world, that I had to stop reading for a minute in order to collect myself. What a run on sentence ! Well, even though it was sugary, I did like him in the Inheritance, his character was so polite & sweet and hey very "easy on the eyes" too. I had watched it only because I had read the novel, which was also sugary , but had a point about family & forgiveness. My familiarity with Gibson mainly came from Dharma & Greg which I loved, especially as Greg loosened up a bit. Funny that even just recently I watched Eyes Wide Shut again (originally saw it in the theater) and just realized it was Gibson as the yuppie professor on screen for like 5 minutes or so. Now I have to go back & check that height thing again. In real life (I read somewhere) he's 6'2. Cruise was probably doing what Bogart did with Bergman in Casablanca, and probably wore stilt like shoes in that scene. When Criminal Minds first premiered I watched the pilot plus a few episodes more, but then couldn't take the serial killer stuff all the time and stopped. I tried recently to watch it again on Netflix just to see Gibson's Hotch , who(yeah I don't think it's whom ) is quite popular now. I like his portrayal , but as usual the serial killer stuff has me fast forwarding through episodes. I have to agree with you that it's indeed a bizarro world thing that Cruise did so well, and Gibson until now has , uh, gotten the "short end " of the stick, so to say. I guess better late than never, since he will also make out well from the syndication of the series I'm sure. Ah, the things you read on the internet when you have insomnia ! Interesting blog though.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11181201254810905438noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-75557205567764834.post-3397596156920674082012-03-14T05:40:24.320-07:002012-03-14T05:40:24.320-07:00Bil l -- I still haven't managed to see "...Bil l -- I still haven't managed to see "Evil Never Dies," but from all accounts it sounds fantastically awful/awesome. One of these days, I'm going to have to sit down and rewatch "Far and Away"; I was in a terribly foul mood when I saw it, and I couldn't find any redeeming value in it (even though I have a soft spot for big sweeping Merchant Ivory-style epics). Maybe I didn't give it a fair shot.Morgan Richterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14479288651753689466noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-75557205567764834.post-50127657738374668182012-03-13T22:07:23.772-07:002012-03-13T22:07:23.772-07:00"Evil Never Dies" is a tour de force of ..."Evil Never Dies" is a tour de force of high camp. I loved it! I agree with all your likes on films with the exception of “Far and Away”. The last five minutes of the film are so unbelievable (Tom Cruise over acts like his life depends on it), otherwise I thought it was very good. An American story and film fashioned along the lines of a Merchant Ivory production of the early to mid-1980’s. It works well as a period piece. I can see how Mr. Gibson would chose the film roles he does. I imagine the character reads quite interesting in the original script he is given and would appeal to a theatrically trained actor. Once the script is in production it gets edited, rewritten several times, filmed. The film is then edited several times, previewed then edited at least once more to become a very different beast from where it started.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-75557205567764834.post-79220332889773487192011-01-18T17:13:52.949-08:002011-01-18T17:13:52.949-08:00He's aged very well. I was sold as soon as you mentioned he was playing the Devil, which is gobs more entertaining than him playing a doctor, or an uptight businessman, or any of the usual roles he gets picked for.

With Love and Human Remains, I always giggle my way through the scene where David's roommate's boyfriend and the cute, stalkerish lesbian she'd slept with show up at their apartment at the same time, and David cheerfully goes out of his way to make the situation as awkward for everyone as possible. He's fun when he's being thoroughly obnoxious. I also like all the scenes with the lovestruck teen (the tape of the Canadian sitcom, followed by their botched makeout session, is awesome) -- I like how David is obviously tempted, yet just (baaaaaaarely) decent enough to realize that boinking the kid might not qualify as his finest moment. Really good performances all around, especially from Gibson.

Heh. I just remember the end inspiring fits of giggling. Definitely post an update when you have seen it. That reminds me--I have actually seen Evil Never Dies, but I successfully blanked it out until reading this post. It came on the SyFy channel right after Grey's Anatomy started, and I checked it out to see what Katherine Heigl was doing pre-stardom. I had it on in the background while I did other things and I remember not one thing about it. Nothing! I think that says a lot.

Now I have to check out Stardom--and dig out my old VHS copy of Love and Human Remains. What's your favorite scene from that movie? There are two that I love: when David's crush confronts him with a tape of his old sitcom, and the love scene between them that plays out in a way that I didn't anticipate.Joyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06839514158818360392noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-75557205567764834.post-56388473710381969862011-01-18T05:58:13.081-08:002011-01-18T05:58:13.081-08:00Thank you very much, Ifancydemons!
