I know it's not really keeping in the spirit of the Duranalysis, but if it's okay with you, I'm just going to pretend from now on that the band Duran Duran is what all these sexy supermodels do when they get together and grow tired of all the tickle-fighting.

...There's a joke in there somewhere, Dan, about how I'm pretty sure the supermodels have all done Duran Duran, but I've done a lot of writing today and my brain is fried and I can't quite work it out.

Aw cool. I made an inadvertent double entendre. My favourite kind.

Oh my god, this is the first Duran song in YEARS that I have absolutely loved and the video was utterly perfect.

As a reformed Nick fan, I'm not shocked that I'm now in love with Eva-as-Nick right now.

When they stop trying to fit into a mold in which they really don't work well with, they are damn good.

Jenn, you're right -- this video was just pitch-perfect, the absolute right project for the band to do at the absolute right time. Play to your strengths, guys! Nobody does hilarious decadence better than Duran Duran.

Love the song. Love the whole All You Need Is Now album, actually -- a whole handful of cuts off of it have wormed their way onto my list of favorite DD songs (and I'm using "Blame the Machines" as my current ringtone).

Eva-as-Nick was my favorite of the batch, though Helena-as-Roger gave her a run for her money.

"So, ah, John just got frisky with Roger in an elevator, right?" Is it wrong of me to admit that that's always been a fantasy of mine? ;0)

So wrong, and yet so very right...

I hadn't seen this long version with the interviews till today. When the video came out I only saw the short version with the super-fast editing.

You're right; Eva does perfectly capture Nick.
And you can tell Nick is involved when a song lyric includes the word "atomized."
(Or would the English spell that "atomised"?)
I can still remember long ago when Nick described something as "atmospheric" -- perhaps that had to do with his photography book. Hmmm...words that begin with A.
Sorry that Yasmin didn't get as much screen time in the long video as in the short one.
I think if there's one part of both versions that bugs me (and in the short version it's there twice, if I recall) ...and that is the unappealing look of Cindy Crawford in a backseat swigging from a bottle. She doesn't seem to be a convincing swigger.

Oh, and something else. You made reference to Nick's bellhop uniform spurring a flashback. Well, I felt that when I saw Nick holding the camera in the front of the group of "press." Add a wig and it would be "View to a Kill" on La Tour Eiffel all over again.

Cheryl, I hadn't even thought of it, but of course you're right -- Nick with the camera is very much like his part in the View to a Kill video. Good stuff.

The 'Making Of' video for Girl Panic is probably one of the best things I've seen in a while, maybe you should check it out!

Anonymous, yeah, that's a wonderful making-of video! Thanks for the link.
