Miscellany...

A few quick notes:

1. Awake, NBC's upcoming drama about a detective (Jason Isaacs) living in two separate realities, is getting good advance buzz. Though the entire pilot episode can be viewed right now on NBC's website, I'm going to start recapping/discussing it here shortly after the official premiere on March 1st. I'm in desperate need of some meaty, interesting viewing, so let's hope it fits the bill. (Many thanks to our always-insightful frequent commenter Patrick for first suggesting this back in December.)

2. You know my analysis of Duran Duran's (awesome and zombie-filled) "Night Boat" video that I posted here last March? It's been republished over at Andy Taylor's official website. This kind of thing only strengthens my current pro-Andy stance. Especially since he even tweeted about it:

3. My new book, Bias Cut, just advanced into the second round of the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award. I'm feeling pretty good about this right now; I think it's the best thing I've ever written. It's gratifying to see a little positive movement on it.

That's it for now. Fingers crossed that Awake will bring us all Heroes-esque levels of discussion fodder; I've missed the raucous days of long, bizarre, hilarious comment threads around here.

I'm very glad you willl be recapping Awake. It looks really interesting and I'm looking forward to watching it as it is. However, I'm even more interested now that I will be back to interacting here. :)

Congrats on your book advancing to second round!! Very neat!

How awesome is Andy??? That's so cool that he republished your review! My love for Andy in recent years has totally skyrocketed.

I'm looking forward to your reviews on Awake. I had to go look it up, as I hadn't heard of it (no cable/tv in my world), and it looks quite intriguing. And Jason Isaacs... always a good actor.

Vallikat, yeah, there's probably every chance Awake will go horribly wrong (it's on NBC, after all), but the promo looks interesting, it's getting good advance reviews, and... I mean, really, can it be any worse than FlashForward?

DKoren: I am feeling very warm and fuzzy toward Andy Taylor these days. He may have his flaws, but he's never boring. And evidence increasingly suggests he might be a very cool guy.

Direct acknowledgement from Andy! So thrilled for you!

Did you know Andy would tweet and recommend your blog post? Or did it just pop up in Andy's Twitter stream, and then screamed very loudly?

details_later -- The very nice woman who manages Andy's website contacted me last week about the possibility of maybe republishing some of my Duran posts over on AndyTaylor.TV. So it wasn't a surprise, but it was still extremely cool.

Holy shitballs! This makes me loooove Andy even more, if that's even possible. I have such little faith in NBC but I've been loving Grimm so maybe Awake won't be terrible... I don't know...

Jenn, I have complete faith in NBC's ability to crap up even the most promising show. Call it the Heroes Syndrome. Still, maybe Awake will have at least a good first season. We'll see how it goes.

...And yeah, I'm totally feeling Andy these days. Very cool.

Wow! Rewards for spreading the Andy love!
Good luck with the book. What is it about?

Thanks, Cheryl. The book is general fiction with some mystery/thriller elements, set in the fashion industry. I really love how it turned out.

Evidence increasingly suggest Andy's a cool guy.
