Fabulous! This was such a fun project. I loved that it was all basically done for the pure enjoyment of doing it and working together rather than any grand financial plan. There was a fab UK morning TV spot with the Devils and comedian Julia Morris which I can't now find for the life of me - maybe it was removed. They were both in fine form, joking and chortling away. Stephen kept picking up on excepts from the host's commentary and reporting that would be the name of their next single etc. I'm not making it sound particularly hilarious, but it really was a hoot. Damn I wish I could find it again...

wow, that's awesome that he replied! *_* i’m glad i thought of this, he was even more chill and fun than i remembered… even if that doesn’t make for easy duranalyzing, whoops.

by the time i became aware of dark circles it was 2012 and i couldn't find it legally for a reasonable price. so even though i try to always purchase music i care about, my copy is some japanese torrent ;_; i'm sorry, the devils

i got a similar feeling re: nick rhodes, person vs nick rhodes, enigma--there's a few little bits toward the middle of him kind of goofing around in the studio and around then it hits me, "wow, he seems really fun, approachable, and almost even down-to-earth in this!” not that duran duran would be remotely the same without the presence of the enigma, but it’s nice to see the person sometimes.

the other major takeaway i had from rewatching this video: i'm not sure if early 2000s goth looks have aged well. the girl’s very recognizable for what she is, that’s for certain.

i just realized, you're going to make it just fine without the dreaded arcadia interview! all you have to do is vegas this week (masterfully recommended, mintycake. where should i send your no-prize) and either another press kit or maybe the answering questions triptych the following week, and that's 2015. john taylor saves the day!

Thanks, Mintycake, Sarah, Anonymous! Anon--I think I became aware of The Devils around 2012, too; I ended up ordering a used CD off of Amazon Marketplace for not too much, but, yeah, it's not the easiest thing to find (there's someone currently selling a used Devils CD on Amazon for $209, which is really optimistic of them).

Yeah, with Nick, it's kind of a relief to realize there are moments when he lets the overblown persona drop. I adore the guy, but it can probably be very, very exhausting hanging out with him.

In the holiday spirit, I think I'm tackling Band-Aid this week, unless that proves unworkable. We shall see.
