This, I believe, is an astute call. I've been trying to think of what other musical artists Clark might be into, but I keep coming back to the Springsteen as the main contender. I also feel Ma and Pa would approve of The Boss, which is probably an important consideration when you're a Kansas farmboy.
However, if he was to indulge his Kryptonian side, then I imagine he might also chill out to a little bit of the electronic pop that is Kraftwerk.
Which would make for one interesting iPod playlist, that's for sure.

I think Duran Duran is an overall testament to Nick's it's-weird-sorta-wack-but-that's-how-I-like-it aesthetic at age 18 (!), and honestly, that's what made the band so memorable. The music too, but Nick made Duran out there. Not there wasn't a price to pay: I think the rest of the Duran members have been taken down by the pixie/gremlin's madness at some point or another — Andy to say the least!

Nice review! I generally don't like Andy blond, but you know, he really does look good in that shot, and your description is very apt. And the quoted bit about teaching chords to Nick made me laugh.

And in no news to Duran followers, John also changed his name (from Nigel — kinda anti-hearthrob/sexyface) and Andy changed his surname legally Wilson-Taylor when he married Tracy.

I'm assuming Nick started plotting a name change the very first time he heard the "Master Bates" insult. Steve Malins's biography of the group claims Nick also briefly went by the name Dior in the band's very early days. Sounds totally like Nick.

I love Simon and Nick in Goodbye is Forever (the Election Day video, on the other hand, bores me to tears). And in the interest of balance, I could always take a look at one of the Power Station videos. I also like a few of the later Duran videos -- Electric Barbarella, Come Undone, Out of My Mind -- and I may or may not come back and address them sometime. I'll play it by ear.
I was convinced as a teen that the blonde woman in the crazy hat cuddling up to Simon was Cyndi Lauper. As an adult I realize this is silly. But there it is.
Snapdragon, Cyndi Lauper appearing in a Duran Duran video would not have been the craziest thing to happen in the early eighties. And the blonde woman really does look like Cyndi, now that you mention it.
